The Rumster Forest transmitter and its 4 relays, serving Caithness and north Sutherland, completed the digital switchover on 2 June 2010 and 16 June 2010

Digital switchover (DSO) complete at Rumster Forest transmitter group

The Rumster Forest transmitter and its 4 relays serving Caithness and north Sutherland made the switch in two stages:

At Stage 1 (DSO1) - 02 June 2010 
BBC Two analogue ceased broadcasting permanently and the first BBC multiplex, Mux BBC A, launched at 8k and 64QAM.

At Stage 2 (DSO2) - 16 June 2010
All other analogue and DTT services ceased broadcasting permanently and high powered digital multiplexes launched at 8k and 64QAM.

Later technical event

 
On the 29th of September 2010, at Rumster Forest main transmitter, SDN adopted the 8k transmission mode, final DSO powers and final DSO channels.

Aerials, group changes

At Rumster Forest, the PSB muxes remain within the analogue aerial group, group A. A wideband antenna continues to be neccessary to recieve all six Freeview muxes;

At Rumster Forest, Muxes C and D remain outside the analogue aerial group, group A, after DSO;

At all relays, all muxes remain within the analogue aerial group.

Aerials, communal systems

Channel changes at - Rumster Forest;mean that channelised aerial systems will need to be reconfigured at DSO2.

Adjacent transmitter groups

A household in Caithness or north Sutherland is most likely to be watching the Rumster Forest transmitter group. However, they could also be watching the Durris, Eitshal, Keelylang Hill, Knockmore or Rosemarkie transmitter groups.
