Blaenplwyf Transmitter Group

The Blaenplwyf transmitter and its 21 relays, serving parts of west and central Wales, switches to digital TV on 10 February 2010 and 10 March 2010.

Digital switchover (DSO) complete at Blaenplwyf transmitter group

The Blaenplwyf transmitter and its 12 relays serving parts of west and Central Wales made the switch in two stages:

At Stage 1 (DSO1) - 10 February 2010
BBC Two analogue ceased broadcasting permanently and the first BBC multiplex, Mux BBC A, launched at 8k and 64QAM.

At Stage 2 (DSO2) - 10 March 2010
All other analogue services ceased broadcasting permanently and high powered digital multiplexes launched at 8k and 64QAM.

Self Helps in the Wenvoe transmitter group

Ofcom have confirmed that there are 2 active licensed analogue self helps. Their status is as follows:

  • Glaspwll - owners have not yet applied for a digital license
  • Brynrodyn - owners have confirmed will not convert to digital

At Blaenplywf all multiplexes remain within the analogue aerial group.

At all relays, all multiplexes remain within the analogue aerial group.

Aerials, communal systems

Channelised aerial systems will need to be reconfigured at DSO, for installations receiving from Blaenplywf and Dolybont.

Adjacent transmitter groups

A household in parts of west and central Wales is most likely to be watching the Blaenplwyf transmitter group. However, they could also be watching the Carmel, Llanddona, Long Mountain or Preseli transmitter groups
