Yorkshire Housing


Yorkshire_housingThe Yorkshire Housing Group is a not for profit family of housing organisations providing homes and services for people living in and around Yorkshire.

In 2007 it was recognised by senior management at Yorkshire Housing Ltd that work was needed in response to the impending digital switchover due in 2011 for most of the Yorkshire Housing areas and cannot be left until the last minute.

Therefore it was decided to complete the upgrade of all communal properties (in excess of 5,000 dwellings) to a full Integrated Reception System (IRS) as described by Digital UK by the spring of 2009 in plenty of time for the 2011 deadline.

A post of Digital/Satellite Upgrade Surveyor has been created to design and implement plans and procedures to eusure that all properties are upgraded to a full IRS system by the middle of 2009.

An important role of the Digital/Satellite Upgrade Surveyor is that of communication both with Yorkshire Housing Staff and Yorkshire Housing Customers.

Programmes are in place, contractors have been appointed, internal information and training established and consultation process with Yorkshire Housing Ltd customers have been put in place.

The first schemes have been upgraded and work progresses well. Customer satisfaction surveys carried out upon completion indicate that the new facilities have been welcomed, many of the schemes have old inefficient aerial installations and so we are able to improve the picture and sound quality to customer's televisions as we go along.
