Commercial properties

Wherever TV equipment is being used, it will need to be checked and the appropriate action instigated to ensure continuity of service beyond switchover.

This applies equally to commercial as well as residential accommodation. Accordingly property or facility managers for shops, offices, leisure facilities, pubs, clubs, airports, and train, bus and coach stations will need to consider the infrastructure that supports their TV equipment, in conjunction with the freeholder, leaseholder or tenant.

Modern shops and office buildings that have been cabled for computer systems will generally have the infrastructure and capacity to support digital TV services through a communal aerial.

As with residential properties, commercial buildings that have a communal aerials system over twenty years old should anticipate the need for an upgrade or possible replacement. It is advised that any system over ten years old should be checked by a qualified aerial contractor, in readiness for switchover.
