I live in a block of flats that has a large digital ariel on the roof. i have a second digital lcd tv in my bedroom, for some reason this does not pick up all the digital channels. i was told this is because my main tv is taking all the strength from the digital ariel, so i cant get the first eight channels, this is a pain, because they are all the main ones bbc1 bbc2 itv etc. is there anyway around this, or have i wasted my money on a second digital tv. ps, would an ariel amplifier help. Many Thanks R O MacCarthy

It is surprising that you are not getting the BBC channels in particular as these are broadcast stronger than other channels.

I have assumed that you are using the same aerial system to feed both rooms and there are a number of things that you can try to see if you can find more channels;
1)Do a full channel retune or first channel install: on your second set -this is different to the add channels option. If this fails;
2)Move the second set and try connecting it to the aerial that the first set is connected to, then run a full channel retune again. If the TV gets the missing channels then you know it’s not the TV that is faulty.
3)If you get all channels on the second set when it is in position of the main TV, then you may need to get your aerial checked -adding an amplifier may help, but it needs to be one which is prepared for digital Television with a good noise filter.
4)The issue could be as a result of the communal aerial system being linked to a filter system that flattens off the signal. Speak to your managing agent or landlord.
