I have been told that if I fit a new digital arial I must fit one for the area I live in as a digital arial just does not work any where in the country i.e. I have been told I must use a CD digital arial to receive digital signals from the Mendip transmitter is this true because I wish to buy one to fit to my sisters in Worcestershire.

All aerials are designed to pick up signals across the UHF band in which both analogue and digital TV signals are broadcast, so you don’t need one that is specifically for digital TV.

It is estimated that about 10% of houses will need a new aerial for the switchover. However as a general rule of thumb if you receive a good analogue picture now with your existing aerial, you are likely to receive a good digital TV picture through it.
You can also check to see if you need a new aerial by going to teletex page 284 and follow the instructions.

If you need to get a further check on your aerial then ask a registered digital aerial installer (RDI) to check for you. Visit http://www.rdi-lb.tv to find an installer. If you are unable to find a RDI installer in your area, contact a member of a registered trade body such as the CAI or the IDSC.

To find out what services you can receive now and after switchover. And the transmitter your aerial should be able to receive signals from, please
enter you postcode at digital UK’s postcode checker at http://www.digitaluk.co.uk
