I have digital TV now in my flat but my landlord is advising that the aerial may still need to be upgraded for switchover?
Your aerial and system of cabling may need to be replaced for the switchover as it may not be suitable to support the delivery of a digital TV signal to all of the flats in the block. You and other residents who have digital TV may find that it works well when there is only a few of you receiving digital television signals, but it is likely that the signals will weaken as more people try to get digital television.
It may be that your housing managers are taking the opportunity of digital switchover to upgrade and future proof their current aerial systems. This is likely to allow greater choice of TV services to residents.
Generally any system over 30 years won’t support a digital TV signal and all systems over 10 years will need to be checked. If you have seen the initial report and want a second opinion about the existing system and the need for a replacement, you could ask a qualified aerial installer to check.
