For many communal TV aerial systems the UHF signals used for both the analogue and digital services are channelised or filtered at the head end before distributing TV services throughout the building. This means that the signals do not appear as those on a standard domestic system and teletext will not give a true indication of the reliability of the aerial to carry TV signals now and in the future.
Many communal aerial systems use splitters or amplifiers that corrupt the UHF signals and again will not give a true reading. This could also happen where a booster or amplifier is being used to improve signal quality.
