FAQ

I am responsible for my own aerial and the Help Scheme require consent from my landlord for a new aerial or satellite dish?

Some Help Scheme eligible tenants in individual properties will need a new external aerial to get TV services after switchover. Many tenancy agreements pass the responsibility for the upkeep of the aerial to the tenant. However, the Help Scheme requires clear evidence that the tenant is responsible for their aerial and the landlord’s consent for any necessary work, so, the Help Scheme needs:

  • to see a copy of the Tenancy Agreement or Tenants’ Handbook clarifying the position,
  • confirmation in writing from the landlord agreeing to the installation of a new aerial (or satellite dish) if required.

The Help Scheme is happy to receive a general letter from your organisation making clear that your tenants are responsible for their aerials and can give consent to their upgrading or replacement as necessary. It should be sent to DSHS Limited, eaga House, Archbold Terrace, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE2 1DB.

This should limit the number of individual requests you could receive from Help Scheme eligible tenants, for permission to install a new aerial or satellite dish, and would reduce uncertainty for your tenants and the Help Scheme. Please note, however, that the Help Scheme cannot upgrade or supply communal aerials or satellite dishes. For more information about the Help scheme visit helpscheme.co.uk
