The switchover occurs TV region by TV region, transmitter by transmitter and will happen in two stages.
Each switchover stage may require changes to be made to communal aerial systems, where channelised equipment, such as filters or amplifiers are being used. Some Integrated Reception Systems (IRS) may be fitted with these, and you should contact your installer or maintenance contractor to see whether any additional works will be required to your system, and when these will need to be made. Failure to do this may result in TVs connected to the systems unable to receive the full range of programmes until such time as the system is updated.
There may also be further technical events where communal aerial systems may need attention. These will be detailed on the regional specific information below.
Digital UK will write to social housing organisations three months in advance of switchover or appropriate technical event to alert them of any changes they may need to make.
Organisations should also be aware that residents with Freeview television or box (BT Vision or Top up TV) will need to re-tune; those with satellite or cable services are unaffected. We know that from switchovers so far that re-tuning can be an issue for some. It prompted queries to our contact centre, local retailers and digital clinics. Your organisation may find that residents contact you, thinking that there is a problem with their TV aerial system.
