Bookmarks (also referred to as ‘favourites’) allow a web user to store a link reference (URL) or a specific webpage(s) for future reference. Book marking is a common feature built into most of the browsers today.
Each browser will have its own book marking process procedure. Detailed below is the procedure to be followed when bookmarking web pages in any of the most commonly used browsers. If your browser is not listed below, please refer to the relevant help section of that browser for or contact the software vendor for further details on how to bookmark a page.
Internet Explorer (version 5 and above)
To add a page to your list of favourite pages:
1. Go to the page that you want to add to your Favourites list.
2. On the Favourites menu, click Add to Favourites.
3. Type a new name for the page if you want to.
Notes
To open one of your favourite pages, on the Favourites menu, click the page you want to open.
As your list of favourite pages grows, you can organize them by moving them into subfolders.
Netscape Navigator (version 7 and above)
Open the Bookmarks menu on the top navigation bar:
1. Choose a bookmark from the list or from a folder in the list. Most of the bookmarks are in folders such as “Search and Directory” or “Best of the Web”.
2. You can also add a bookmarks button to your personal toolbar or add a bookmarks tab to My Sidebar.
Firefox (version 1 and above)
To book mark a page using Firefox, click on the bookmark icon in the Bookmarks Toolbar or choosing the bookmark’s name from the Bookmarks menu.
Opera
Opera 7 gives you has many rich bookmarking features for managing your bookmarks through the Panel (formerly called Hotlist) than in previous versions of the product.
To sort and edit your bookmarks press F4 and toggle the Panel to select the “Bookmarks” tab. Save your bookmark accordingly via the menu option.
Safari
To add bookmarks to the Bookmarks menu:
1. Go to the webpage you want to bookmark.
2. Click the Add (+) button.
3. In the dialog that appears, type a name for the bookmark.
4. Open the menu and choose Bookmarks Menu; then click Add.
