Television in the UK is going digital, bringing us all more choice and new services. Starting in 2008, the UK will switch to digital TV, transmitter by transmitter. The exception is Whitehaven, Cumbria, which became the first place to switch in October 2007.

Baroness backs online guide for councils

Backed by Baroness Andrews, Communities and Local Government Minister, the site explains the impact of digital television on services such as housing and social care, trading standards and the implications for energy efficiency, waste disposal and planning.
