To prepare for digital switchover, planned engineering improvement works are necessary on transmitters in advance of the switchcover dates in each area. This may result in temporary disruption and degradation to reception of both television and radio services in addition to that caused by routine maintenence activity.

Due to a fire on the 13 May 2010, TV broadcasts from the Oxford transmitter are currently from a reserve antenna. As a result, viewers on the fringes of coverage may experience reception difficulties with some channels. We have been advised by the mast operator that services are expected to return to the main antenna by the end of September, once essential repairs have been completed.
Engineering work alert: Emley Moor Transmitter Works
Digital UK has been informed by the transmission company upgrading the Emley Moor transmitter that engineering work in preparation for digital switchover is now expected to continue into September. Viewers with marginal reception may experience difficulties receiving some channels.
While all efforts are being made to give accurate information on engineering works affecting transmitters, timescales may change as a result of poor weather conditions and complex engineering issues. Digital UK regrets any inconvenience caused.
