4 million homes in the UK share an aerial with another household – this is known as a ‘shared aerial’ or ‘communal aerial system’.
If you live in a flat it is likely that you will have a shared aerial. Many of these will need to be upgraded or replaced for the digital TV switchover.
It is estimated that only approximately half of set-top aerials will work after switchover. Consider whether any sets you have can be connected to your communal aerial system.
