David Scott is Chief Executive of Digital UK. He took up the role on February 1, 2008, and had previously been a non-executive director representing Channel 4 on the board of Digital UK.
Prior to this David worked for Channel 4 for more than 25 years and was a member of the original management team which launched the channel in 1982. He went on to become Director of Finance, Managing Director, Deputy Chief Executive and Acting Chief Executive. Prior to joining Channel 4, he worked as a chartered accountant for KPMG.
David was also a founding member of the Digital Switchover Stakeholder Group and spent a decade on the board of Digital 3&4, the company which manages digital broadcasting for ITV and Channel 4 and has been a member of the Digital Television Group since 2006.
In 2006, David was awarded a CBE for services to broadcasting.
Barry was elected chairman of Digital UK in April 2005. He previously worked as a journalist on the Scotsman, the Sunday Telegraph, Granada’s World in Action and at LWT, where he became Controller of Features & Current Affairs, and then Director of Corporate Affairs.
He was Director of the ITV Association between 1995 and 1998, and for seven years was Deputy Chairman of Channel 4. He is also a consultant with ITN.
Barry was chairman of the Digital TV Stakeholders Group between 2002 and 2004, and News International Visiting Professor of Broadcast Media at Oxford University in 2003.
