Television in the UK is going digital, bringing us all more choice and new services. Starting in 2008, the UK will switch to digital TV, transmitter by transmitter. The exception is Whitehaven, Cumbria, which became the first place to switch in October 2007.

Switchover in Wales starts next summer
The date for the start of digital TV switchover in Wales has been announced by Digital UK. The Kilvey Hill transmitter group, serving the Swansea area, will begin the transition from analogue to digital signals on 12 August, 2009. This will be followed by the Preseli transmitter group, serving south-west Wales, on 19 August. The Carmel transmitter group, serving parts of south and central Wales, will start switchover on 26 August.
