  • Freeview offers more than 40 subscription-free television channels, digital radio and interactive services via an aerial.

High-definition channels from the BBC, ITV and Channel 4 are also available if you have a Freeview HD television or digital box.

With Freeview+ you can record programmes or a whole series at the touch of a button, as well as pause and rewind live TV.

If you would like extra channels, you may wish to opt for additional subscription or internet connected services, such as Youview, Top Up TV or BT Vision.

  • With Freeview most people will receive more than 40 TV channels; some people around 20, depending on where they live.

Your Freeview channel line up may vary depending on which transmitter serves your address.

You can check which channels should be available at your address using our coverage checker.

  • You should retune your Freeview TVs and digital boxes from time to time to ensure you are receiving all available services.

Retuning takes only a few minutes and can be done with your remote control.

Visit our retuning pages for more information.

  • Changes and future improvements to terrestrial TV services sometimes require engineering work on transmitters.

While every effort is made to minimise the impact on viewers some disruption is inevitable.

Check here for an update on engineering works affecting your region.

  • The Freeview TV guide was updated on Wednesday, 3 September to create extra capacity for new services. As a result, Children's and News channels moved to new numbers.

If you haven't already done so, retune your TV or digital box to update your guide. This only takes only a few minutes and can be done with your remote control. Some equipment may have retuned automatically.

For advice on retuning, click here. For a list of the channels that moved and their new numbers, click here.

Note: Depending on your TV equipment, you may need to update your favourites list following a retune. Some digital recorders may require scheduled recordings to be reset.
